Dealing with Headway has been a real headache. They've messed up my therapy paperwork with my insurance multiple times, which led to my sessions suddenly being billed as out-of-network. This mistake has cost me an extra $75 each time. It's happened four times now, in two different clusters, with no issues in between or after those sessions. As of now, I'm still waiting on a $75 refund for an appointment from three months ago. My therapist and I have been trying to sort this out for the past two months, but it's been a constant struggle. Be very careful with this company—they're extremely difficult to work with when it comes to fixing errors.

I started using this company for therapy, and it has been a rollercoaster. Initially, their processor just didn't process anything for months, leaving me in limbo. When they finally got around to it, there was a whole mess with my insurance coverage. Communication has been all over the place between Headway and my therapist, which is super frustrating. I explained to Headway that charging me for multiple sessions on the same day would mess up my finances, but they didn't seem to care. I'm dealing with their customer service now, but surprise, surprise—I just got hit with a hefty charge for several sessions. It's been a nightmare, and it's really stressing me out. Thanks for the 'support'.

Back in January, I joined three online sessions and got hit with a $10 fee. Then, a month later, another $25 popped up, bringing my total to $75. Fast forward to September 2025, and out of nowhere, Headway tells me they're charging my card another $75 for sessions from late 2024 and early 2025. Apparently, they messed up the claims process. Honestly, it's not right that I'm paying for their mistakes. The office needs to get their act together. While the counselor was fantastic and I'd totally follow her if she moved elsewhere, I’m done with Headway. They need to fix their billing issues before I even think about coming back.

I had a pretty rough time with Headway. They promised a referral bonus, and I followed all the steps, but they just didn’t pay up. When I asked about it, they hit me with some generic response. I've brought them a lot of business, and yet they couldn't come through for just $200. Another issue is their co-pay estimates. They often tell you there’s no co-pay, and then, out of the blue, months later, they say you owe $150 or more. It’s frustrating because you think everything’s settled, and then suddenly it’s not. Their support team doesn’t help much either—they’re slow and often clueless. Overall, it's just not worth the hassle. Look elsewhere for better service.

But when I actually needed help? Crickets. You get stuck talking to a robot, and it's like you're yelling into the void. There’s no human touch, no one to actually resolve any issues. It feels like they disappear once you’re on board. The promises made were just hot air. It’s really frustrating and honestly, pretty disappointing. I wouldn’t suggest anyone go through this hassle. If you're considering Headway, maybe think twice.

Suspicious Billing / Time Suck

I’ve had multiple frustrating and concerning experiences with Headway’s billing system, and I no longer trust them with my payment information. I have a $0 co-pay for all therapy sessions. A couple of months into using Headway, they said that my insurance plan coverage had changed and that they would now be charging me a $10 co-pay for each visit. I called my insurance and they said there had been no change in my plan or coverage and that therapy still had a $0 co-pay. This lead to a whole back and forth with Headway to get them to reimburse me and stop charging. How did they come up with my plan changing? How long were they going to charge me $10 per apt if I hadn't gone back and forth with them about it? How many other people have they done this with who didn't have the time or energy to go back and forth with them? Most recently, they ran a series of unauthorized $1 test charges on my card without notifying me or logging them in my billing history. This included a $1 charge, an immediate refund, and then another $1 charge, all unannounced. My credit card flagged the activity as suspicious and advised me to block the merchant because this is a common strategy scammers often use before making larger charges. After that, Headway removed my valid payment method and is now requiring me to add a new one, even though I have a $0 copay and a clean payment history with them, in order to see my provider tomorrow. They never notified me or listed the "test charges" in my billing history.... Between the lack of transparency, unauthorized test charges, and previous overbilling, I don’t feel they’re responsible enough to handle patient billing. If you're a provider thinking about using Headway, or a patient whose provider works through them, be prepared for billing issues, poor communication, and unnecessary stress. All of the back and forth and phone calls over these issues has created a completely unnecessary time suck and I don't expect that to change any time soon.

I like Headway for the most part, but it is hard to reach someone when there’s an issue. If another company offered the same services with better customer support, I would definitely consider switching.

I recently had a rough time with this company's customer service. You can only reach out via a contact form, and it takes forever for them to reply, like way more than 48 hours. When they finally get back to you, the answers are half-baked, and it feels like they just want to tick off a checklist. Then, you gotta start all over again with a new request. There's no option to email back your response; it's back to square one with a new claim. The whole process is super frustrating and time-consuming.

Payments are always on time, no stress there. What really stands out is how they keep trying to make things better for us healthcare folks. Though, it would be better if they could negotiate better payment amounts with insurance boards. It's a shame some insurances don't pay enough for certain services. Hopefully, Headway will push for change, given the shortage of therapists.

This place is great! Ms. Crossley will listen to me babble for an hour and it's only $20! I couldn't pay anyone else in the world to do that for $20. I'd have to pay thousands for anyone else, plus they'd probably tell me to quite after the first ten minutes.

Headway has really helped my business grow by expanding my clientele and increasing my weekly bookings. Their help with paperwork and billing lets me concentrate on my clients. I like their support team and how fast they reply when I need help. The only problem I've faced is sometimes an insurance plan isn't accepted or there's a mix-up with copay, but the support team tries their best to help in these situations.
